Fire Training Courses – 100% Online

HCI College offers several online fire training courses for Certified Fire Fighters who are seeking career advancement. All fire training courses are approved by the Florida State Fire College. All courses may be taken independently or as part of a series. These courses will enable a firefighter to further their career as well as serve the community in a higher capacity.

FFP1505: Fire Prevention Practices

This course is part of the Fire Inspector I series and is also applicable to the Fire Officer I series.

Course Description

This course provides fundamental information regarding the history and philosophy of fire prevention, topics include purpose, definition, Fire Prevention Bureau activities, hazards, fire causes, types of construction, flame spread, occupancy and fire load, inspection techniques and coding inspections.

FFP 2120: Building Construction For The Fire Service

Course Description 

The curriculum in this portion of the fire prevention inspection certification program deals with building construction. Topics include identifying hazards from assault by fire and gravity, how building construction can influence fire spread, fire confinement or structural collapse and many other life safety issues. This is not a building course per se, but rather a course to identify construction features and their hazards under fire conditions.

Course Description 

This course provides for the application of fire codes and standards in developing an understanding of a building fire protection feature including the design of fire alarm systems, water based fire suppression systems, water supply for fire protection and egress arrangements through evaluation of 2D drawings and schematics.

Course Description 

This course explores the methods and means of adult learning principles and the imparting of information therein. The course emphasizes techniques applicable in a myriad of teaching situations as well as measuring the effectiveness of the utilization of these techniques. Note: This course requires a classroom portion for presentation which will be will be scheduled at HCI College, West Palm Beach.

This course stresses the principles of effective curriculum design with concentration on the principles of adult learning. This course provides an in depth analysis of the principles of fire control through the utilization of personnel, equipment and extinguishing agents on the fire ground.

Course Description 

This course is designed with emphasis on company operations, logistics strategy and use of mutual aid and conflagration control. The course is intended for officers who may be in command of fires and or other emergencies that involve coordination with large numbers of staff and or equipment. Prerequisite: FFP1810
