Veterinary Program Director


This position is responsible for the oversight of the Veterinary related programs at HCI College. Oversight will be at the two campuses and will require traveling between the Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach Campus during the week.


  • Communicate with the Dean of Academic Affairs concerning operational, regulatory and accreditation issues as appropriate while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
  • Understand National and Programmatic accreditation as it applies to the managed program.
  • Complete required reports, curriculum alignments, attending meetings, etc.
  • Maintain HCI College standards on persistence and placement as per National and/or Programmatic Accreditation guidelines.
  • Enforce existing college and program policy.
  • Submit reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs regarding department persistence, placement, student activities and student satisfaction status and plans.
  • Prepare program reports for regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Assist in preparation of accreditation materials for school.
  • Participate in professional development (i.e., continuing education, professional activities, conference presentations, scholarly publication, etc.).
  • Represent the program to the local advisory committee
  • Recruit members for the advisory committee and facilitate advisory committee meetings.
  • Maintain communication with industry professionals and advisory committee members.
  • Monitor faculty members in accordance with HCI College guidelines
  • Hire, orient, onboard, supervise, and evaluate instructors.
  • Assist in the resolution of student and instructor issues.
  • Assist instructors as needed in the preparation of lesson plans, learning activities and evaluation of the learner’s knowledge.
  • Research, write, update, revise instructional materials including syllabi.
  • Research and evaluate textbook choices for each course.
  • Research and request equipment essential to the Academic program through HCI College budget and purchasing procedures. Keep such equipment in good repair.
  • Ensure classrooms, Labs, and other common academic areas meet any required Accreditation and programmatic requirements.
  • Ensure that Annual faculty development plans are completed for each faculty member.
  • Conduct faculty meetings
  • Prepare, submit, and manage program budget.
  • Establish criteria and plans as necessary to both maintain and improve pass rates.
  • Arrange visits to industry sites to acquire job leads and placements.
  • Assist Career Services in tracking placements and assisting graduates with job placement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Admissions with product knowledge and training of representatives as needed.
  • Attend trainings as necessary to maintain knowledge and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor students’ progress (SAP), academic and attendance records.
  • Student advisement through regular meetings (scheduling, probation, graduation, placement, licensure, and testing).
  • Track pass rate data licensure exams.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree required and Licensed as a Veterinary Technician (from an approved AVMA accredited program) or Doctor of Veterinary Science. Valid and Active Certifications required.


  • At least five years of Veterinary Science education experience.
  • 3 years of occupational experience.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of management experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teaching skill and ability to efficiently manage students’ clinical and skills lab activities.
  • Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.
  • Ability to manage people and projects.
