HCI’s AS in Fire Science

HCI’s AS in Fire Science is approved by the Florida State Fire College. Our courses meet the standards for certified firefighters to enhance their careers in the fire service. A high-quality education that provides practical instruction is valuable to employers.

The Fire Science degree program is 60 college credits. Students take courses that prepare them for certification as Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II and for Fire Inspector. They learn technical skills that further their understanding of fire prevention and fire fighting.

Some of the courses that you will take in the Fire Science program include Fire Prevention Practices, Fire Codes and Standards, Fire Investigation Origin and Cause, and Construction Documents and Design. You will also learn about fire fighting techniques, fire hydraulics systems, and much more.

West Palm Beach Campus

As a firefighter in Florida, you can earn a Fire Science degree at the convenient location of our West Palm Beach campus. The degree can be completed in approximately 24 months. Enrollment for the program is ongoing.

Fire Science degree students in Florida can look forward to 36 credits in core courses, 15 credits in general education courses, and 9 credits of elective courses. As a student, you will have a well-rounded education that prepares you for career advancement in the fire service.

Because of the program’s technical proficiencies, only certified firefighters may apply. Consult with an Academic Advisor to make sure that you meet all of the prerequisites before enrolling in the Fire Science degree program.
