Health Career Institute Offering EMS Training at Newly Opened Lauderdale Lakes Campus

Ft. Lauderdale, FL—March, 2018—Health Career Institute (HCI), a private postsecondary school dedicated to individual student enrichment, announced today the roll out of EMT and Paramedic diploma programs at its recently opened Ft. Lauderdale campus.

On January 8, 2017, HCI Ft. Lauderdale opened the EMT and Paramedic classes for the first time, along with their Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN).

HCI is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) and is devoted to helping students overcome challenges, exceed their expectations, and change their lives. In addition to offering general education and professional diploma programs, HCI’s West Palm Beach campus also offers associate of science degrees in the nursing and paramedic fields as well as in fire science for firefighters.

The associate of science degree in Emergency Medical Services combines the EMT- Paramedic curriculum and the general education courses offered by Health Career Institute. The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to advance their careers in the field of health and public safety, and to serve in new and advanced career positions in Emergency Medical Services in the state of Florida.

The EMS degree curriculum includes classroom lecture and practical application of training in both laboratory and hospital settings. Hospital fieldwork offers students the opportunity to collaborate with hospital staff and emergency personnel and interact with patients under the direct supervision of paramedic preceptors, nurses and physicians.

  • paramedic roles and responsibilities
  • medical terminology
  • patient history, examination, assessment and situational control

  • abuse and assault

  • hazardous materials incidents

General education coursework necessary to graduate includes English composition, general psychology, liberal arts, mathematics, and U.S. history.

Students graduate with the skillset necessary to collaborate and consult with agencies and other organizations that are committed to the community. All Health Career Institute EMS programs have been approved by the State of Florida Bureau of Health, Division of EMS and the Commission of Independent Education.

“HCI emphasizes the importance of developing not only professional skills but individual enrichment and the tools necessary to achieve overall,” said Robert Bonds, MBA. “HCI’s EMS program is one of the most well regarded in the state of Florida for its focus on ongoing personal and professional enrichment, and we are excited to offer it to a broader student pool at our new Lauderdale Lakes campus.”

HCI opened its Ft. Lauderdale location in February 2017, in Lauderdale Lakes, to meet mounting demand for its student-centric brand of education in rapidly expanding healthcare and public service fields.
