Earn Your RN in 72 Credit Hours

Earn Your RN in 72 Credit Hours

Did you know that you can earn your RN in 72 credit hours? The associate of science in nursing at HCI is designed to train nurses for working in the field in only 20 months.

You gain a well-rounded education that prepares you for becoming an RN and working with patients.

The RN Program at HCI

HCI’s RN program gives you the knowledge and skills you need for this career field. You learn how to treat and manage different medical conditions, work alongside other nurses and doctors, talk to patients about their health and their treatments, and so much more.

The general education courses give nurses the foundational skills they need for success. You will take English composition, liberal arts, mathematics, anatomy and physiology I, speech, and general psychology. Building on those skills, you also take anatomy and physiology II, human growth and development, elements of nutrition, and microbiology.

RNs must have an understanding of the human body, the various medical terms that doctors and nurses use, and a firm grasp on math and communication. You use these foundational skills every day of your job when dealing with medicines, patient communication, and treatment plans.

The core nursing courses build on these foundational skills. Learn what it means to be a professional nurse and your roles and responsibilities. Gain understanding of nursing theory and the necessary medical knowledge you need to make decisions. Get practical hands-on training with medical equipment and first-hand experience working in hospitals and various medical facilities.

Becoming an RN

By the time you complete your 72 credit hours for the RN degree, you should be ready to take and pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses. The state of Florida will grant you your RN license once you pass the NCLEX-RN. Then you are qualified to begin looking for jobs as an RN.

Earning your RN in 72 credit hours involves a combination of hard work and determination. HCI offers flexible scheduling, with many of the courses available online, so that you can work your education and training around your current responsibilities. Spend time studying the material with other students or on your own. Know how to ask for help when you need it.
