HCI Offers Evening EMT Courses

HCI Offers Evening EMT Courses

Whether you are changing careers or just starting out, training for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification can easily fit into your current busy schedule. HCI offers evening EMT/Paramedic courses that make it possible to get your education while still working at the job you have now.

Prepare for an EMT Career

EMTs are an important part of the medical field. They work in hospitals and on ambulances to provide pre-hospital care for patients.

Additionally, EMTs and Paramedics are known as “First Responders” because they are the ones who are first at the scene of an accident or disaster. Their skills and knowledge, along with quick thinking and teamwork, are vital to recovery efforts and patient survival.

The EMT program at HCI can be completed in as little as four months. Students enrolled in the program take a total of 150 theory hours where they learn about the human body, medical equipment, illnesses and injuries, and treatment of patients.

Labs allow students to practice what they have learned in a simulated medical environment. This involves 56 hours of hands-on training. What students learn in the classroom becomes real, and they learn how to apply their knowledge.

HCI’s evening EMT classes

HCI’s evening EMT program ends with 94 hours spent at an externship. Part of those hours will be at a hospital and the other part will be on an ambulance. Students work alongside certified and experienced EMTs and Paramedics to see what the job is like in the field. Every day will be different for an Emergency Medical Technician.

At the end of the EMT program, students will have gained the knowledge and hands-on skills that they need to become an EMT. The next step is to take and pass the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) exam to become certified.

Evening classes at Health Career Institute provide the flexibility that many working adults need when getting their higher education. Our EMT program is designed to meet the national standards and the standards required by the state of Florida in only one semester.

You don’t have to put your career on hold! HCI has a solution for you, and you can begin working toward your EMT certification now.
