Dr. Rebecca Wilson

Dr. Rebecca Wilson, an instructor at HCI, brings a wealth of experience in teaching Psychology, Human Services, and Religion courses across various Colleges and Universities. Currently residing in Clayton, NC, she finds joy in the diverse climate of North Carolina, situated conveniently between the mountains and the beach, allowing her to indulge her adventurous spirit.

Dr. Wilson’s academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Radford University, followed by a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Longwood University. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to obtain a Psy.D from California Southern University, marking her introduction to online learning, a realm she passionately advocates for its accessibility.

With a teaching career spanning since 2001, Dr. Wilson’s dedication has been recognized with accolades such as the Teacher of the Year award from Halifax Community College in 2007 and nominations for the Faculty of the Year award at the University of Phoenix in 2019 and 2020. She received the esteemed Phoenix 500 award in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, underscoring her commitment to excellence in education.

Prior to her career in teaching, Dr. Wilson specialized in community mental health, particularly focusing on the severe and persistent mental illness population. Her dual passions for mental health and education converge seamlessly in her teaching philosophy.
