Charles Castillo, AA, BS

Charles Castillo is a seasoned Director of Higher Education with over a decade of experience, specializing in admissions development. With a background in nonprofit and for-profit sectors, he holds an Associate degree in Business and a Bachelor of Science in Design from Florida State University.

With a focus on project management, Charles excels in structuring and leading teams to achieve organizational goals efficiently. Throughout his career, Charles has demonstrated discipline, determination, and leadership, earning recognition such as two MVP awards and two top representative awards. His commitment to excellence has led to the restructuring of campuses and the growth of diverse student populations, including international students.

As a Director of Admissions, Charles oversees the recruitment and enrollment of new students, develops strategic plans to meet departmental goals, and leads teams to successful outcomes. He fosters an energetic and motivated atmosphere, inspiring staff to exceed performance goals while maintaining accountability and consistency in training.

Siriuma (Rumy) Armstrong

Siriuma Armstrong, also known as Rumy, brought over two decades of comprehensive experience in higher education and student financing to HCI College. Commencing her journey in 2000, she embarked on a career with one of the most esteemed student lending corporations. During her tenure there, she gained expertise in every facet of student loan management, from origination to disbursement and servicing.

In 2008, Rumy made the move to the Fort Lauderdale area, where she joined a prominent online education institution. Over the years, she held various significant roles, including FA Officer, FA Ombudsman, FA Operations Manager, and FA Training Specialist. Joining HCI College in 2021, Rumy has been pivotal in refining the financial aid process, extending her support to both new and returning students in securing necessary funding.

In totality, Rumy’s extensive knowledge and background in student finance, coupled with her proficiency in simplifying complex concepts, position her as an invaluable resource for individuals navigating the financial aid landscape.

Carmen Salazar, MBA, MCHM, ASN, ACHE, FMG

Carmen Salazar brings a wealth of expertise from her extensive leadership roles within the realms of higher education and the healthcare industry. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Healthcare Management, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, both earned at American Intercontinental University. Additionally, Carmen is an alumna of the University of Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico, where she achieved an Associate of Science in Nursing. Her diverse educational background also includes being a Foreign Medical Graduate from Barcelona, Spain.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Carmen is deeply passionate about education and Clinical Research. She finds joy in quality time with her family, exploring new destinations through travel, and expressing her creativity through art forms like painting, ceramics, resin art, as well as crafting candles and soap. Carmen also appreciates the tranquility of reading, the serenity of beachside walks, and the rejuvenating practice of meditation. A lover of movement, she finds delight in the rhythm of dance.

Lorelaine Rodriguez Hernandez, CVT

Lorelaine attended City College Hollywood for the Veterinary Technology Program in 2014 and graduated with an Associates in Science in 2016. She passed the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam) and obtained her license to be an officially Certified Veterinary Technician.

During one of her externships in 2015 she was hired at the General Practice Clinic and has been working there ever since. She was able to move up quickly from Room Tech to Surgery Tech to Tech Supervisor. Lorelaine has always been passionate about education and found a love for teaching. So HCI College is a perfect fit!

One aspect of veterinary medicine that she truly enjoys is the client education. From puppy or kitten education to animal behavior and restraint, Lorelaine believes it is imperative that we not only further educate the veterinary staff but also educate the community on the importance of proper care for their furry loved ones.

When she is not working, Lorelaine enjoys long walks with her dogs, even going to the Dog beach! Reading, watching movies/TV, pet-sitting. If there was one thing she could not live without, it would be ice cream!

Joan Sherrard, MBA

Joan Sherrard is the Senior Director of Career Services at HCI College. Her background includes 12 years as a Director and Regional Director of Career Services. Prior to working in higher education, Joan worked as a recruiter and account executive for Healthcare Staffing. Her experience in working with employers from within medical offices, hospitals, labs, diagnostic centers, and skilled nursing facilities, provides students with information to help them understand the medical industry and become successful. Joan has spent much of her career in higher education in South Florida, working with Nursing, Medical Assistants, C.N.A, EMT, Paramedics, Veterinary Assisting, Dental Assisting, and Culinary just to name a few.

Joan is very student focused, team oriented and understands the importance of finding our graduates meaningful careers. She assists students and graduates with resume writing, interviewing, job search, professionalism, and career goal setting. Joan holds both her BBA and MBA from the University of Phoenix.
