Axel Collazo, MSN, RN, NP-C

Axel began his professional path in science by earning a degree in Chemistry in 1996 from the Chemistry Polytechnical Institute in Havana, Cuba. Axel’s nursing journey began at the bedside as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where he gained firsthand experience in the day-to-day work of patient care.
In 2007, Axel completed his associate degree in nursing at Miami Dade College and began working as a Registered Nurse. Over the next several years, he gained wide-ranging experience across multiple specialties and locations as both a staff and travel nurse. In 2015, he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and in 2018, he completed his Master of Science in Nursing at Walden University, becoming a board-certified Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). His clinical specialty as a nurse practitioner is in the field of Geriatrics.
Alongside his clinical career, Axel has been active in nursing education, teaching at multiple levels. He especially enjoys guiding students through Medical-Surgical Nursing and Pharmacology, blending real-world insight with academic rigor. Axel is passionate about mentoring nurses, advancing healthcare quality, and promoting resilience and retention in the profession. His leadership style blends tradition and innovation, with a commitment to preparing nurses to excel in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare system.
Beyond healthcare and academics, he has a deep interest in learning languages and cultures. He is fluent in English and Spanish — and, as his colleagues often note, the language of teamwork. Bilingual and culturally curious, Axel values being approachable and relatable to both patients and students, while maintaining a strong commitment to professional growth in nursing practice and education.
