Our HCI central headquarters is located at 1764 N. Congress Avenue in West Palm Beach which is right next to I-95 at Okeechobee Boulevard and within easy reach of the Turnpike. This main facility is more than 10,000 square feet encompassing spacious classrooms which can accommodate various class sizes. Each classroom is equipped with all of the appropriate audiovisual equipment so that instructors can easily add any video material to any lecture. There is also a library with 21 computers with each one being linked to more than 3,000 periodicals to assist students with any type of research they are assigned. The library is open 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. Monday through Thursday.
HCI proudly houses industry standard equipment to aid in the student’s hands-on learning experience. This includes a multitude of ECG machines with defibrillators, laryngoscopes, endotracheal tubes and other advanced and basic airways, IV’s, syringes, IV solutions, practice medications, splints, etc. We are also excited to announce that we now have an adult simulation lab and mannequin! Using the previous equipment students receive instructor-driven scenario training in our simulation labs in an attempt to portray an array of real-life emergency situations and locales. The simulation rooms are made to look like actual hospital rooms and first responder sites so that the student can gain the full pseudo-practical experience in the proper setting. Instructors also use simulation mannequins that have breath sounds, pulse rates and blood pressures, as well as many other features, mimicking a real patient. This readies the students so that they are cognizant of what they may encounter during their externships at hospitals and fire rescue sites.
By using this three pronged instructional strategy-lecture/theory, scenario training in the simulation labs and real-life externships- attending HCI will enable you to receive a rewarding and stimulating educational experience while you are being prepared to enter the workforce in the field of your choice.
